NEWS 📌
- The National Health Service (NHS) started using new AI notetaking tools to increase the quality and safety of patient care. These tools used by NHS organizations across England generate real-time transcriptions and clinical summaries based on clinician-patient conversations. The results show a 23.5% increase in direct patient interaction time and an 8.2% reduction in overall appointment length. Read More
- The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) extended telemedicine flexibilities for the prescriptions of controlled medications. This extension allows controlled medications to be prescribed without a prior in-person visit from 1 January to 31 December 2026. The move aims to prevent disruptions in care for patients who rely on telemedicine like people with disabilities, seniors, and rural residents. Read More
- The European Medicines Agency (EMA) and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) identified ten principles on the safe and ethical use of AI across the medicines lifecycle. These principles cover the application of AI technologies from early research and clinical trials to manufacturing and safety monitoring, aiming to accelerate innovation without compromising patient safety. - The Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H) launched its Agentic AI-Enabled Cardiovascular Care Transformation (ADVOCATE) program. ADVOCATE aims to develop the first FDA-authorized, agentic AI technology providing 24/7 specialty care for cardiovascular disease. It will integrate with wearable health devices and digital health records for effective heart health monitoring. Read More
